Recently, the lawns of Zhejiang Zhongxin Fluoromaterials Co., Ltd. have been bathed in warm sunshine. As the mild spring arrives and all things begin to thrive, even the weeds can't resist joining in the fun. Led by the company’s management, a large group of office workers—those who’ve spent too much time hunched over their desks—has been invited to the lawn to soak up some sun—and, of course, mainly to weed.
To beautify our home and create a clean and orderly office and living environment, on the afternoon of March 12, office staff arrived early at the lawn to prepare for weeding. However, after several attempts, they found that many weeds had deeply developed root systems. Simply pulling them by hand often ended up removing only the leaves while leaving the roots intact in the soil—a saying goes: “If you cut the grass without removing the roots, it’ll grow back again when the spring breeze blows.” So, once everyone received the appropriate weeding tools, they promptly got to work.
Among the weeding team, there were quite a few employees who had never pulled weeds before. Yet, under everyone’s guidance, they quickly got into the swing of things and began carrying out the weeding activities in an orderly manner. Some wielded small shovels to dig up stubborn weeds with well-developed root systems; others used curved knives to cut through roots that were particularly difficult to pull out. Still others tackled the job with their bare hands—and their speed was no less impressive than those using knives. After nearly two hours of hard work, almost half of the weeds on the large lawn had already been cleared away.
The next day at noon, after everyone had finished lunch, they immediately got down to weeding. Drawing on the experience from the previous day, everyone found the work much easier and more efficient today. Moreover, on this day, many more employees from the East Factory joined in. Even the company leaders, just like everyone else, rolled up their sleeves and actively participated in the weeding effort, setting a fine example for the staff. Everyone was brimming with enthusiasm. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.” After an hour and a half of diligent effort, the weeding activity came to a close amid laughter and cheerful chatter.
Labor can embody the strength of a collective, and it can also reflect team spirit. Through this weeding activity, not only has the company’s greenery been completely revitalized, but we’ve also come to appreciate the power of unity and collaboration.
