The Zhejiang Zhongxin Fluorine-Containing Chemicals and New Materials Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”) was established in 2014. Focusing on fluorine-containing fine chemicals—such as new materials and pharmaceuticals—as its core development direction, the Institute actively expands its market and develops high-tech products with high added value. In 2016, it was recognized as a provincial-level enterprise research institute.
The institute currently boasts advanced research equipment worth over 20 million yuan, including a Mettler-Toledo reaction calorimeter (RC1) imported from Switzerland, an E-fine microreactor imported from Germany, and an Agilent inductively coupled plasma optical emission mass spectrometer from the United States. It has more than 5,800 square meters of dedicated research space and has established several key research departments, including a R&D center, an analytical testing center, a technology transfer base, a strategic planning center, and an external relations center. The R&D center is equipped with 10 comprehensive laboratories, 5 specialized laboratories for fluorination, chlorination, hydrogenation, micro-reactor studies, and reaction safety assessment, as well as one Class 10,000 cleanroom. The center employs 75 professional technical personnel, including one high-level talent recruited from overseas (a former professor at Yale University in the U.S.), two doctoral graduates from renowned domestic universities, six master’s degree holders, one senior engineer, 11 senior engineers, one postdoctoral researcher who has joined the institute, and two externally hired senior technical experts.
Over the past three years, we have invested nearly 100 million yuan in R&D, completing more than 60 new product development projects and over 30 major improvements to production processes. We have been granted a total of 3 U.S. invention patents, 3 Japanese invention patents, and nearly 60 Chinese invention patents. We have undertaken 1 provincial-level key R&D project and 10 provincial-level new product development projects, completed 2 national-level projects and 17 provincial- and ministerial-level projects, received 3 provincial- and ministerial-level science and technology awards, and 3 municipal- and bureau-level science and technology awards, and passed the assessment of 40 provincial-level scientific and technological achievements.
Through technological research and innovation, the company’s annual economic benefits have increased by more than 20 million yuan, while production costs have been reduced by over 10 million yuan. In addition to these economic benefits, the innovation team has optimized and upgraded reaction processes and equipment procedures based on safety analyses of the production process, fundamentally addressing the enterprise’s longstanding challenges in safe production. At the same time, this has significantly reduced the generation of the three types of waste and enhanced their treatment efficiency, yielding substantial social benefits.
Relying on the unique geographical advantages of the Shangyu Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hangzhou Bay and the various policy supports provided by the Shangyu District People's Government, the research institute will actively carry out R&D projects and, where feasible, promote its technologies to relevant enterprises.
